Bar Harbour

Poor Boys was good, was highly recommended and the reviews reinforced that, but take note...not cheap.

Neat little town, we spent a week or so there camping on the ocean, so the town was secondary to camping for the most part. Lots of kitch shops amongst the gems, if you happen to be there when a cruise ship comes in the place will be overrun for a good many hours, but that aside (and if you skip the kitch) it has a neat feel to it. Not anywhere near as polished as many touristy type towns though, it has some rough edges.

Can't help you on the clam chowder, tried a few places for seafood and was disappointed.

Did have a great breakfast at Cafe This way though, highly recommended.

Overall, I found Bar Harbour too damn touristy, don't see myself visiting again in the near future.

Maine can be a great ride in September.
After Labour Day the summer residents have gone back to Boston and New York.
You can actually drive on US1.
