Dead bike :(

Alive. Stitches in my knee, road rash, nerve damage in my left arm. Going to a neurologist to see the severity of it. Really bad bruising on my leg, I look like a ******* kabob.

My elbow looked like that after I crashed... You might have to get it drained

Well my motorcycle accident last week and bike deemed total loss saves me from replacing this part. Oh well.

That sucks :( Gonna buy another 300 next season or go for something different? GWS

How about 1 day after getting bike fixed for crankshaft recall at local Honda Dealer the engine fails on the Highway 400 at full speed and the wheel locks up. lucky to be alive today. New bike bought in June 2016, less then 2000k. Take it in for recall fix and less than 20 km later it is a pile of junk.
Either mechanic screwed up the fix or replacement parts just as defective as originals. Thanks Honda Canada

Hmm, what dealer was it? Did they mention any sort of break-in period for the new parts?

I called the dealer today to check up on the bike, the new motor and tranny got there today and I should be able to pick it up tomorrow afternoon or Friday at the latest. I've been seeing so many bikes lately and I am so f$%?ing amped to get back on her!!! Second break-in on first bike of first season. Double the fun!

I was considering a Panigale 899 but I'm not sure how much I'd get raped on insurance with an M2

Oh, you'll get raped just dandy. Call it a sir charge.

Not gonna lie, wasn't sure if this was a shin/knee or elbow/forearm for a good little bit... GWS tho :( I'd imagine if you weren't wearing gear tho, that would be a lot of lost skin.

...more like a "her-charge" ?

Uh, @maovee, did your leg get worse? The brusing looks worse than before. And did you contact a PIL yet?

My leg keeps getting worse in terms of looking like a kabob but I'm sure that's a good sign. I feel pretty good minus continuously poking my arm due to the nerve damage I sustained...so its interesting that I can't feel it. I got referred to a Neurologist so we'll see how it goes. It's not a huge surface area that is affected but still.

I have an appointment with a PIL on Monday. He will guide me in the right direction.

Appreciate the concern ?✌

It is my leg. That would be a pretty enormous arm.

Stay on top of things medically. I'm just over 1 year post injury from breaking my ankle at work last fall and I'm having a nightmare of a time with it - WSIB of course washed their hands of me the second they decided I had "fully recovered", subsequently were basically non-responsive when I continued to complain that I had not actually "fully recovered", and haven't exactly done much despite me visiting my doctor complaining of pain every 2-4 weeks since. Now out of desperation (and tired of living in near constant pain, to the point of it being severe for the last few days) I am taking matters to the next level and paying for physio and such from benefits vs WSIB...but I wish I had complained louder or decided to hire someone to advocate on my behalf earlier as now, according to the physiotherapist, it looks like I may have some serious issues going on in the ankle joint. Next stop, waiting for an orthopedic surgeon appointment.

And my experience with "light duty" at work was less than ideal, so I wish to avoid that again as long as I can physically still perform my job.

Anyhow, I'm off topic, point being....advocate for yourself or hire someone who will and make sure you ARE actually healed before accepting a piece of paper that says you are.

This is really good advice. I was a union steward for 8 years with the Teamsters. The torture WSIB puts workers through is an ongoing disgrace. They are absolutely merciless. They just want you off the benefits and they don't care about you.

Anyway, glad the OP is getting his bike fixed after two months and a lost riding season. He's a good sport.

So I picked up the bike today, rode it home with a fresh engine and a rebuilt tranny (Yes, ~40km in that downpour :p) Nothing really different except I noticed it was a bit louder/barkier than I remember, probably due to the colder temperature. It vibrated a bit more than before mostly isolated around the engine, but seemed to smooth out about 30km later. The dealer said Honda Canada didn't mention anything about a break-in procedure, but I'm going to do it anyway (including the 1000km oil change). I messed up my back a few weeks ago so picking my feet up from ground to pegs hurts a little, but other than that it felt great to ride!

Remember that on a new engine the pistons will be tight against the cylinder walls. This can generate more friction and cause vibration. I would avoid high revving for the first 1000km. Use dino oil in the first two oil changes, not synthetic, so the rings and valves can seat.
