Check the stock spring rate and see what is appropriate for you.

Find a low mileage stock shock on e-bay, or check on a v-strom forum to find out what bikes shocks are a direct replacement. we put a gsxr600 shock on my buddies sv. Made a huge difference. That and fresh fork oil and springs worked great.

In keeping with off the mark answers, July 1983 Cycle World technical editor Steve Anderson wrote an article about motorcycle suspension. In particular, he described how lessons learned in motocross were benefiting the entire industry with trickle-down technology and that street bikes and road racers were reaping the rewards. That was 30+ years ago. Current Wee is only 20 years behind. Yes, better suspension is real. Feel it in your pants.
