Port Perry Star
SCUGOG -- A motorcycle rider has been charged after a collision Wednesday afternoon with a car in Port Perry that saw him sustain serious injuries.

The Oshawa man was thrown several metres after his bike struck a Honda sedan at the intersection of Simcoe Street and Vanedward Drive at about 3:20 p.m. Aug. 10, Durham police said. The road was closed for a short time as police investigated the crash.

Police said the driver of the Honda was pulling out of a parking lot on the west side of Simcoe when the light at Vanedward Drive turned green and the motorcycle accelerated quickly from behind a truck and darted southbound.

The driver of the Honda tried to get out of the way but the bike struck the rear of the car, police said.

The motorcycle rider was rushed to hospital with what police described as multiple serious injuries, including broken bones and a concussion.

The unidentified rider, a 33-year-old Oshawa man, is charged with careless driving. The driver of the Honda, who wasn’t injured, faces no charges, police said.

Hospital, an at fault crash and a careless charge. Not this guys day. At least he's alive. GWS Rider.

GWS rider, It will be a LONG road ahead for this fellow, the charges, will be the least of his concerns for now. Rehab will be long and slow, then the insurance ramifications will last MUCH longer.
