HAMILTON TOWNSHIP — A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after running off the road Saturday night.

The motorcycle rider was southbound on Burnham Street near Camborne and failed to make a corner, crashing into the east ditch around 10 p.m. on Saturday Aug. 6.

The rider was airlifted to hospital in Toronto with serious injuries, including a badly broken leg, said Hamilton Township Fire Chief Kelly Serson.

Burnham Street was closed between Wallace Jibb Road and Kennedy Road overnight for the police investigation

NORTHUMBERLAND -- A GoFundMe page has been set up to support a motorcycle rider injured on Saturday in Hamilton Township.

Braeden Litz created the page for her cousin, Joshua Davey, of Port Hope, who has had two surgeries at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto on his left leg.

“On top of his bike being totalled, general costs of living and medical bills are going to add up,” Ms. Litz wrote on the Funds for Josh page, which to date raised just over $1,000 of the $3,000 goal.

Mr. Davey’s mother, Melanie Fyfe, said the best thing about the page is the love that her son has felt from seeing it.

“He has had so many tears reading the comments than I have ever seen him have,” she told Northumberland News, adding that Josh works as a roofer in Toronto. “It’s going to be a while before he can work again and has no benefits.”

She said she would like to thank everyone for the support and love they have shown her family since the accident.

“It’s really beautiful,” she said.

The accident occurred at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, while the motorcycle was travelling southbound on Burnham Street North at Wallace Jibb Road, north of Camborne, according to police.

Mr. Davey was transported to an area hospital before being airlifted to a Toronto for further treatment, OPP Const. Steve Bates said.
