INNISFIL – A 52-year-old man was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre with serious injuries after his motorcycle crashed on a Sideroad 10 curve Tuesday morning.
South Simcoe police said his condition is unknown.

“He went for quite a tumble on his motorcycle,” Const. Rich Williamson said.

Police received the call at 4:45 a.m. but believe the crash happened earlier.

“We believe speed's a factor at this point in time, and we're looking into whether alcohol was a factor,” Williamson said. “Obviously that's one of the avenues we always investigate. But at this point in time it just appears to be speed. It was on a curve.

“There's two curves in a row. He came through the first one OK, but the second one he mustn't of seen it in time. We're trying to figure out what exactly happened.”

The motorcyclist was heading south on Sideroad 10, between the 2nd and 3rd lines, on a curve north of Highway 89, when the crash took place. The motorcycle and its driver went into the ditch, landing about 30 metres away.

Police say the driver was spotted by a passing driver after he crawled up to the road from the ditch.

A section of the 10th Sideroad remained closed for the investigation until around noon.
Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call police at 705-436-2141 or 905- 775-3311.
