I just heard a news snippet stating the canal cost the same to expand as the TTC Scarborough subway extension.

They are fighting over adding some stops.
$3.2 Billion to add 1 stop as per a city councilor Joe Cressy. The 1 stop subway, lol

What is wrong with people.....here?

Bending over is a thing here.
 
Laborers made a buck an hour when my brother was there a few years back. Skilled trades made two bucks.

But mainly creative accounting IMO.
 
Canal is digging through empty jungle ....TTC is digging under and around existing infrastructure including moving **** out the way. Not surprised about costs.
 
Jungle typically doesn't have an existing sewer system, buried power lines or building foundations to avoid.
