I've had two plastic ones break on my Tiger, both genuine Go Cruise. I don't repeatedly install and remove, either. They're installed once only and stay there for keeps.
How do they break? Not much to the tension ones...I guess the advantage with the 2 is the pivot point is not stressed the way it is in the non-adjustable version.
There is no tensioned bend
Ah the black is aluminum as well.
