For high end temperature probes, how about this? Relavitely well rated, looks to be quality, lots of reviews, and cheaper.

This one is a step up, recommended by pros a great price.

Here's a basic but very fast and highly rated digital thermometer, again recommended by the pros. Not cheap, but not a bad price compared to buying from the US.

Reason I want the iGrill is it will talk to my phone. I have a decent wireless one somewhere but can't find one of the units (receiver). I'm less likely to lose my phone as it is grafted to my hand. :D

reason it's on sale is iGrill got bought out by webber.

So..best part about pulled pork Sunday is....Pulled Pork Pizza Monday!

This has been a favorite of ours since a local smokehouse got us hooked on it a few years ago. Unfortunately they discontinued it, so we just started making it at home instead.

It's basically a pita (in this case I used the "jumbo" ones tonight, but we've made them on smaller ones for individual pizzas) with sauteed green peppers and onions for the base, a thick layer of leftover pulled pork (heated up first), BBQ sauce drizzled over things (Our absolute favorite beer & chipotle PC brand!), a layer of cheese, and then back into the smoker at around 350 to crisp the pita and melt everything together. When it's done, garnish with diced dill pickles. Sounds gross, but it ads an absolutely perfect add on flavor.

Makes sense. I personally want to avoid bluetooth models. Their range isn't very good, and especially so through walls. That RF model I linked earlier has great ratings for range and through walls.

That Instant pot turkey carcass soup I did on the last page was crazy good. I will literally dedicate more of the turkey cook next time to making more of this soup.
After some smaller cooks through the week, today I did Instant pot baked ziti. Really good :blob:

Mmmm, 100% organic

I'm totally in the mood for more pulled pork...but was too damned busy with other stuff today to get out to Wholesale Club in Whitby and pickup another butt. Won't be time to get it in the morning tomorrow and still actually get it smoked in time for dinner. :(:(

Trying to figure out how PP has leftover pulled pork for pizza?
We'd have to make three of them, maybe more.

Looks great! What cut of pork is that?

For those that thought the beans looked great, here's an easily recognizable trait for being able to tell it was home-made. The beans look white. I used standard navy beans which are the same as well loved canned beans out there. Well, navy bean are white, and when you make them fresh they stay white, even for a few days past the cook. Canned beans just cannot replicate that with its production process.

You are either buying small butts, or feeding an army? ;)

Most butts that I do are between 12-15 pounds, and at 15 pound butt yields about 14 pounds of pulled pork.

When we do pulled pork we usually have a few friends over, but even with the 5 of us eating multiple sandwiches each (my daughter is a vegetarian, so she's not indulging) we still usually have a decent pile of pull left over.

3 Teenage boys. We've been getting 5 pounders from Brandt's. I guess that makes your butt look big. We've tried some bigger from other places, but they tend to get fatty.

Heavy marbling is better for pulled pork. The marbling/fat renders down into tasty moisture that makes the pull super tender, and super tasty. You WANT the fatty butts - lean cuts will never be as tender and flavorful. If you have a lot of leftover fat or it doesn't fall apart easily when you're pulling it you probably didn't get the butt to a high enough temperature, or you rushed it through the stall.

We got one that seemed to be mostly fat, from another source, it was disgusting. These ones usually fall apart nicely. It usually cooks for about ten hours. Where are you getting yours from?

Tenderloin/pork loin half (I think centre cut removed)

https://www.nofrills.ca/Food/Meat-&...-Div-Pork-Loin-Half/p/20554787_KG?isPDPFlow=Y

It's often on sale for under $2 a pound, if not I believe Walmart has same or similar cut for $1.77/pound

Have a bag of navy beans that would like to get to cooking soon
