Good car shop to diagnose god-awful brake noise

I am also a member there but didn't see your thread. I'm assuming you don't have the tools or the space to do it yourself. You also don't list your location so it isn't easy to offer you help if we don't know where you are located. For what it is worth, in the east, I would recommend Way's Performance.

Edit: Aww, saw your post on GTAMC - you are in Mississauga so my guy is a bit far. You posted your thread at 10:48 PM on May 9 and have had one reply at 12:07 this morning suggesting you check out a sponsor - not horrible advice as they help the forum out. It's not free to run this or any other forum for that matter so sponsors help.

You replied with an assumption that the sponsors are only interested in offering upgrades. Not sure I agree with the assumption, I would think they would need to be more diverse than that. You also say you want a shop that knows Mustangs - so a Mustang Forum sponsor seems like the logical choice then.

Both this and the GTAMC forum are great resources, give it a bit of time and you will get the help you need.

I've been to steeda for LCA install but I figured they're not in the business of diag. WK seems like a good bet, I think he even replied to my post, and Hamiltons not that far.

I take all my vehicles to Melo Automotive at Dundas and Runneymede. The owner, Chris, is a good friend of mine who's a very knowledgeable (along with the other techs) and won't BS you. Rates are reasonable, everyone is down to earth, and they also work on bikes so there is generally some eye candy there if your waiting.

my family has been using these guys for at least 18 years.
when i had my first car they knew i didnt have the $ to fix everything on it so they would tell me how to do it then say come back with it and we will look it over when you are done, and if i got stuck the said they would swing by my house and check it out..but it never came to that.

thanks for all the suggestions! I'm riding today and the next so, trying not to think about it :D

though I'm thinking of taking it in on Friday which I should start planning for.

brakes are usually simple
noises caused by brake dust build up
worn pads
stuck calipers
uneven rotors

when was the last time you changed the pads? how many kms ago?

you probably at the wear mark on pads

true, and generally buying 4 new rotors and all new pads and changing everything yourself is cheaper than going to a shop.
shops will charge 1 hour per corner usually. so $400 labor.

check out R1Concepts for rotors, ive used them on a bunch of cars...exchange rate sucks right now though.

I replaced my rear brakes (with OEM parts) about a year ago, probably under 10000kms of not too aggressive driving. Some of my coworkers (lexus techs) said it might be suspension noise too but it only happens when I apply the brake, and only seems to come from the passenger side. there's a variety of noises happening, a groan-like noise and a light scraping noise that both follow the rotation of the wheel. I know it's not diff noise or anything like that.

Brakes are simple, suspension is not too complicated to figure out noises. If you take the wheel off and inspect - you should be able to figure out if you need pads or rotors or just a cleaning
If you need help - send me a PM.

Sounds like the wheel could be loose. A loose wheel would make the rotors shift (scraping noise) and groan on braking.

that's not it either as I've had the wheels switched a couple of times and the noise persisted. I usually do the wheel swap in the shop I work at (in parts) but this last spring I did them in my garage. checked torque, that's not the issue.

I had a really weird grinding sound coming from my rear CV when slowing down. Really didn't sound like a CV. Oh wait, mustangs are not there yet, don't worry about it :p

For Mustang guys that's the low hanging fruit joke. It is true though, unless he has an SVT.:p

Light scraping noise. Wheel bearings maybe?
only happens on brake though so not sure! but alas, I am taking it to WK PERFORMANCE in Hamilton, a specialised mustang shop. seems like all my car/moto errands are in Hamilton these days, between sturgess and now this. Which reminds me I have parts to pick up from sturgess!
