I've never ever ever heard a Canadian say it, only Americans.

What, exactly, are you talking aboot?

As a non-native English speaker who first learned English off of American TV, I can say that roughly 50% of Anglo-Saxon Canadians say "aboat". Americans hear "aboot" because it's so far off their pronunciation (abowt).

Words like house, south, scout and even school come out funny from about half of youse.

If you need an example, pretty much everyone at the CBC speaks funny.

It rhymes with *oot* You don't want to say "Oot and about" you want to say "Oot and aboot" That alone raises your IQ from an assumed 70 to a solid 80.

Thought Aussies say "aboot"...
