A 30-year-old motorcyclist is in hospital with a serious head injury after hitting a dog and losing control of his bike in Blackstock on Saturday.
Police say shortly after 8:30 p.m., the driver of a Yamaha off-road motorcycle struck a dog on Church street and lost control of his vehicle.
The man, investigators say, was rushed to hospital by ambulance but was later taken to a Toronto trauma centre via air ambulance, where he remains in serious condition.
The dog died at the scene.
Roads were closed in the area for several hours as Durham Regional Police’s collision investigation unit conducted their investigation.
Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision.
