Suspension set up question

I might be. I've never been to TMP as I am usually at either SMP or Mosport.


One other advise I can give is to take your track bike to either Riders choice, Pro6 or Speedworx (depending which one is close to you) to have a pro adjust the suspension for you. Riders choice charged me around 75-80$ last year for my cbr600. Not sure what the other two shops charge.


Since it's my first time at TMP and if I go I will be riding in novice group in a black Gsxr750 ( if it's ready ).

Yep I'll be there, unless the weather is ridiculous like today lol
I'll be on a black ZX7 (number 917) & I'll be riding in the novice group
 
I may be there, weather pending.

It would be helpful to know your shock spring rate as well.

I've always used 30-35mm for a street bike, and 25-30mm for a track/race bike. Around a third of the overall suspension travel. I usually set my front and back the same(within 2-3mm).

I have always used the racetech method for measuring sag:

Andrew Trevitt's book is a great read and I would highly recommend it for something looking to start adjusting their own suspension.

The racetech suspension bible is pretty dry but also a bit more technical once you get your head around the major concepts.

great feedback. i knew my sag numbers were on the conservative side, and was waiting for someone to suggest more extreme numbers. This is good stuff as it allows the original poster to see some variation.
edit: the first video in the list i posted earlier - is also the racetech sag method being used in the motorcyclist magazine video-MC garage
