TD Insurance

Just bought a new bike at a dealership and trying to get insurance.

I called up TD because I have my motorcycle insurance currently insured with them in Alberta.

They said I have to complete a written application and it could take 3 to 6 weeks. They said it's an Ontario policy. My bike is ready for pickup next week.
I've insured multiple bikes with TD in Ontario in the past. Is this written application a new policy in Ontario?

Guess I have to hunt for another insurance provider.

May I ask what bike you bought? And TD told me that same thing, I don't know if that's a normal thing or not. No other companies told me that! Their quote was MUCH more than some other providers so I didn't even look at them again.

I bought a 2015 Sym Symba. It's not a common bike and it's 101cc. I've insured multiple bikes with TD in the past both in Ontario and Alberta and never had this problem.

Yea, that "policy" put me right off.
Combined with a 30% renewal hike, I had to spend more time filling out this ****en form for the privilege to pay more for my insurance with no claims?

oooooooooooooooooooooookay

That right there!!! Last year I paid about $900 with collision, theft and fire. Got my renewal and the wanted over $1400.... So I didn't renew. They told me I'd also have to do the written crap if I wanted them again. Shopped around, got a better deal,Try Aviva.

Paul South just quoted me about $550 with Aviva for this 101cc. My 250cc in Alberta to insure was just $100/year. TD quoted about $550 ish too.

So I guess I'm happy soon I can ride this little baby around town. Been stuck in this dungeon since landing in Toronto couple weeks ago.

I did my insurance on my new bike with TD from the parking lot of the dealership. Had the documents by email that evening. Competitive quote too.

Dungeon eh.. lol Sounds.. fun? :D

TD was good for me this year. I got a lower rate for more coverage, and they were very easy to deal with over the phone.

I just got my renewal from TD MM and it actually went down a little...and no form to fill out.

Month ago switched four bikes over to TD. No form needed, just a great chat with the underwriter. Paperwork within the week received.

I have nothing positive to say about TD. They raised my insurance 700 this year so I canceled. Got a lead from a buddy and got insurance with Aviva for less than what I was paying last year through TD.

With the amount of bad things I have heard I hope they are hurting with the lost clients as a result of the ridiculous increases.

'My story exactly... $900 last year with TD, renewal... $1400.
When called to cancel the guy I talked to didn't seem surprised or offended... "Lots of people are opting not to renew"

Made a call or two... $900 form Aviva for the same coverage

I didn't have any issues with my TD insurance even though I cancelled my old one and had to re-signup under a new policy.

You guys scared me into calling TD just now. My rates only went from 1575 to 1599 for a 2015 R1 full coverage and a 1981 GN400 PL/PD. I'm breathing a sigh of relief. I am in Northern Ontario though so maybe that helped??

Insured yesterday with TD for two new bikes. (Ottawa)
As a long term TD client with both home and auto, the insurance coverage was as simple as a very pleasant phone conversation of the type of coverage I desired.
I'm 50 ish (M license for decades) with one minor speeding violation on record.
Ducati Panigale 959: Liab 2 mil, comprehensive, collision, depreciation waiver (2 years), $1000 deductible = $1375
Honda CBR300RA : Liab 2 mil, comprehensive, $500 deductible = $750 (for a 50 ish new female rider with M1)

FYI, both Allstate and Dalton Timmis (brokers) were very competitive for experienced riders but not for novices.

Also in Ottawa. Just got a renewal from State farm for my '07 CBR600RR. Premium went from $770 to $1400. Need to look for a new provider. Can anyone suggest a good provider for a super-sport bike? I'm a 34year old male with M2(3 years experience).

At $1400, you're in the zone and reflects Ontario's socialistic No-Fault insurance policies. Most of the premiums are for medical and personal health benefits which are mandatory.

Are you saying that $1400 is an okay rate and I would not be able to get a better rate anywhere?
