You could literally die doing something like that. Maybe that's what makes it special. Mount Everest wouldn't be Mount Everest without a trail of corpses. This long distance riding thing could be like the IOM for weenies. People are awesome.
I've been invited on a few long distance Iron Butt runs and I've always declined. One junkie I've met has over 650,000 km on his ST1100 and lives for these endurance feats. Always seemed more of a an ordeal than fun as after 10 - 12 hours max I'm done.
It was a personal challenge for him and I guess he wanted some modicum of attention from it.
Clearly he has a lot of money to burn based on the planning and support teams on the road with him.
I thought old school riders just woke up and hit the road.
Did he plan with the alignment of the starts too..lol...he did for the moon
