Dear potheads, Merry Christmas!

Probably not. Most others in the sector are up.

yeah should read up...my biggest holding is with the #1 producer that was banking heavily on retail sales
still will have their products on the shelves, but they had planned on owning the stores

Personally, I don't care that much.. as I've said... I will never buy my weed from the government or pay a cent of tax on it...

But, I think this will fail. I think they missed the mark with their antiqued ideas... and I don't think anyone making these decisions understands the weed industry at all.
Over 19 only... "for the safety of kids". Young folks will continue to smoke weed regardless... So, they think it's safer for those kids to have to continue to buy from illegal dealers with "no quality controls".
No edibles, etc.... again... missing the mark.
The "black market" will continue to thrive.

+1 agree entirely. Once again they do what they want instead of what we want.

I'm disappointed. Government retail with THC controlled pot. Typical socialist Ontario. Well, it looks like the black market will continue unabated.

Not quite sure how they managed to botch the legalization plans as bad as they did. Everything was basically laid out for them and they chose a ridiculous path that won't last long at all.

In my opinion the Government is run by a bunch of clowns. This only goes on to prove how stupid they are. I think a 10 year old could do better.

Not quite sure how you thought for one second that the government wouldn't **** this up!?

Said right from the start that I was against legalization of weed... Not because I don't think people should be allowed to make that choice for them selves... but because I knew for certain that the government would do something backwards with it.

does anyone doubt
the first priority of the Gov
was to legislate the largest revenue stream possible from this change?

of course the ridiculously small number of stores will not dent the black market
but watch for them to make this priority number one for the provincial gestapo - OPP

So the only places you will be able to get mmj is from the government? The only way you will get rid of the black market is by having competition. The black market will continue to prosper...

I heard a funny story today. There's a medical centre focused on cannabis here in the GTA, they don't sell it or have any in the building etc. I guess they have a storefront sign that has the word "cannabis" on it. Signs been up for a couple months now but the other day, the city's police chief paid them a visit insisting they take the sign down because of the word "cannabis". First off, isn't that what bylaw departments are for?...the police chief visited the place. How is this real?...Secondly, as far as I know it is not illegal to have a sign that says cannabis on it?...lol

The police have complained that cannabis related venues are targets for robberies and thefts. The chief shouldn't be doing visits, but it may be a reasonable conversation for an officer to present their concerns to the clinic in the interest of safety. Don't force them to take down the sign, just let them know that based on experience in TO, the sign puts a target on them. That would be a reasonable conversation to have and one I would appreciate if I was the operator of the clinic. Maybe you update the signage to clearly indicate what occurs inside and what doesnt (eg. no drugs on site).

here's an interesting snippet dropped at the end of a discussion on drug impaired driving:

Wynne said the province will host a fall summit with policing agencies,
public health groups and other stakeholders to discuss Ontario's marijuana legalization framework.

Wynne also appeared to leave the door open to expanding the sale of recreational marijuana if efforts
to eliminate the black market are unsuccessful.

"If that means that ultimately we need more ways of making cannabis available in a safe and responsible
way in order to tackle that illegal market then that's something that we will look at
," she said.

you know the MMJ producers are lobbying hard to expand into recreational retail
