Turkey just shot down a Russian jet...

The beginning if WW3

Not a good news, not a good news at all 10th military power shoots down 2nd's power fighter jet because they spent 13 or so seconds in their space threatening none of their equipment or personnel. The Turks will have to man up to the real reasons .... which seems to be widely known in the region.

Like the region is not HOT already enough. This is not about, "we warned you and you didn't listen ..." this is about who plays on whose team, but the situation is so entangled that this could really end up with a wide spread conflict. Just what ISIS is looking for.

They warned them 10 times with no response and the Syrians have been flying sorties near the Turkish border so they could have thought it was a Syrian aircraft.......aside from the huge red star on the tail of course.

I don't know how many times the Russian had entered other countries' territory. If I remember correctly their bomber were escorted out of Britain's airspace three or four times already this year. Their warships were also intercepted by US a couple of times already. Not sure what they were trying to achieve. US has sent six F-15s to Turkey to help them watch their border.

Turkey is weird. At a recent soccer match the fans there booed a moment of silence for Paris and reportedly chanted "Allahu Akbar." Russia is one of the few powers actually taking the fight to ISIS and Turkey shoots down one of their fighter/bombers?

Seems like ISIS has a new ally.

When you have nations like the U.S. and Russia who don't respect any other nations sovereignty these incidents are going to happen. If a foreign jet enters your airspace and won't respond to calls what are the other options? This is not the first time that Syrian and Russian planes have been warned to respect Turkish airspace.

Seems like ISIS has a new ally.

That is a rather simplistic view of a very complex situation.

Shooting the ejecting pilots, though

news coming out on regional channels.. the jet was in Syrian space... all along.. seems Syrians were in the are as well, plus Russia seems to have irrefutable evidence of the plane not violating turkish airspace at all during its flight... doubt russian plane was in turkish space.. the town it was flying over was close to the border not right on the border.

turkmen shot one of them in the air and the other when he landed now confirmed.

its like americans shooting down a jet flying over sarnia because its closest to the border...ok sarnia may not be a good example

Just like Turkey respects Greek airspace or Cyprus....oh.

First, the incursion was pretty minor:

Second, unless the aircraft was actually threatening or shooting at targets within Turkey the more correct response would be to send up interceptors to shadow and escort the Russian aircraft, similar to how Canadian fighters often intercept Russian bombers.

Shooting down a non-threatening aircraft is pretty close to an act of war. Turkey's actions were reckless and irresponsible and, as a member of NATO, puts other NATO members in an awkward position.

if NATO backs turkey on this one i see Syrians starting to protect their airspace from any further violations. backed by russia of course.. right now they are turning a blind eye.

i am assuming the black trail is supposedly the Russian jet! if so why is it one way.?

I read that the Russian aircraft was 1km inside the border...which is nothing if you think about it.

Could be huge or could amount to little.

I guess the big question is whether the downed jet was in Turkish air space or Syrian air space.

1. Turkey and Russia have had a LOT of issues in the past.
2. It was disputed airspace... Not so long ago Turkey shot down a Russian drone.... might not blow over, but not WW3 as most people are calling it.
3. This is a much worse and a bigger issue... http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-...sian-helicopter-us-supplied-anti-tank-missile (Syrian Rebels Destroy Russian Helicopter With US-Supplied Anti-Tank Missile)

4. Reports say the pilots were killed upon landing.

Its more straight forward than that.

Turkey has alwasy wanted Assad gone since day 1.

Turkey backes many Syrian rebel groups fighting Assad.

Much the oil coming from ISIS controlled oil fields are imported into Turkey.

Russia recently attacked ISIS oil fields.

Turkey attacked the one country that has effectively been destroying ISIS camps.

Someone doesnt want ISIS gone and im gonna wager its NATO through Turkey.
