Kill someone, minor fine

I've heard of low fines for drivers killing people, but was not aware of cases in Canada. Well, here we go. $2000 fine and a 3 month driving ban for killing a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Obviously, motorcyclists can be subject to the same vagaries.

It seems slacker here. IIRC, a left turning soccer mom only got a $600 fine for killing a motorcyclist.

In another case the fine was a lot less than the Alberta one and the driver got to pay the fine on installments.

Oops sorry about that seems to be the attitude.

My friends dad was hit head on riding his goldwing to his afternoon shift at LOF glass plant in Collingwood, was coming from Creemore, and was hit by a 16yr old in his dads truck passing on a hill, he received a 6 month suspension from driving , this was back in 1995.

Very common for a left-turn-in-front-of-motorcycle situation for the only fine to be the $110-ish "improper left turn" ticket.

No, it ain't right for the penalty for actually killing someone be less (by far) than for doing a 3" wheelie. (HTA 172)
