How to get started in flat track?

Not sure if this is the best best to post this question but I am interested in trying some flat track racing.
I have a bike I would convert it if necessary and I guess my questions are...


  1. Where can a newbie try flat track racing? I am located in Durham Region but will travel a reasonable distance.
  2. What would I need to do to a bike to get it flat track ready?

Looking for any information and advice you can offer.
 
I've done it as well, great day for not a lot of money. Still looking for a flat track bike to buy:p
 
interesting school. i didnt find any info on a schedule for actual races. would anyone know what the race dates are? i would like to watch some actual racing.
 
Did some reading on flat tracks...no brakes?! I think I'd scare the **** out of myself

No front brake on flat track bikes. No brakes at all on speedway bikes.
