The subject is more complex than this. Read up on "SMIDSY", or Sorry Mate I did not see you, and "Inattentive Blindness". There may be deeper psychological and physiological reasons for car drivers not seeing motorcycles.

Some of it's for the same reason that riders miss a curve and end up in the ditch.

They underestimate the velocity of the motorcycle.
