That intersection (Islington and queensway) is notorious for idiot drivers. I work close by and use that intersection frequently and always see some stupid ass crap there, especially with the left turners.

Perhaps. This one was totally avoidable simply by slowing down and being more aware that the lines are like ice in wet conditions.

Creds for owning up to it in the comments to his own video, and having proper gear on at least.

I think that was my second season (maybe third), over confident, took the turn like it was a dry road, and slipped on the painted line.

It is what it is - learned a good lesson that day.

Sorry, didn't mean to centre you out.

It came up as the next video on youtube, and I thought it would be a good lesson for all to remember.

Many of us here have done worse things.

It has served as a good reminder for me to ride according to weather conditions over the years.

maybe the cyclist didn't see the signal, but he did momentarily stop pedaling right after the signal came on. It then looks like he just decided to keep pace and hang in a vulnerable position. I dunno, approaching a car from behind who has his signal on and failing to yield right of way seems like putting ones self in harms way for no good reason; unless entitlement qualifies.

Cyclist was coming off of the sidewalk along the pedestrian crossing by the looks of it.

Both were doing not so bright stuff. Car driver should be more aware. Cyclist should have their hands on the primary controls, and be going a reasonable speed for the area, which they were not. One car door, pedestrian or stroller, would change the story immensely.

Only in terms of injury, not liability. I wonder if the policing precedent of excess speed negating ROW violation in a motorbike vs car situation, would be applied in a speedy cyclist vs car door scenario; I have my doubts

Cyclist shouldn't be illegally riding on the sidewalk, where the driver doesn't expect to see him ;)

Riding bicycle on sidewalk = $60.00 fine (Toronto Bylaws)

Riding bicycle in crosswalk = $85.00 (Highway Traffic Act)
