Almost got away with it ...

Don't know how we can assume she "would have gotten away with it" she was charged by the OPP right after the incident. Yes the witness coming forward was good of them but by the sounds of things, the OPP had all their ducks in a row and had already taken the case to the crown who elected to go forth to trial (without knowing about the witness).

Sounds like the case was on track for a conviction, the witness merely strengthened the pot. In this case it "appears" the only person who acted improperly was the first officer on scene. She should be identified and facing at the minimum police services act charges.

A durham regional officer was charged Sunday at 2:30 am when he rear ended a vehicle, and has been arrested and charged with Imparied Driving. In that case it sounds like it was another DPS officer that laid the charge

"Court also heard that a female NRP officer with blonde hair was the first to arrive at the scene. She spoke to Edgecombe, who was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche with the personal plate "C EDGE", but she did not speak to two witnesses who were never asked about what they had seen, and they were never asked to provide a statement. That officer told the two witnesses they could go."

Shouldn't the 1st responding officer be disciplined also? dismissing witnesses to give an advantage to another cop? Everything that is wrong with police culture right there and until its weeded out respect will continue to plummet.

It is so important that this fact gets investigated! Basically, the first officer at the scene got rid of the witnesses?? Why?? That smells too much as a "cover up", and police top brass has to take responsibility, and investigate what happened.

NRP makes Peel look like choir boys.

you mean to tell me that cops are corrupt and will break the law to cover for each other????????????
but but but they are the police.....we can trust them

this is just one of many many cases that didn't slip under the radar, for every cop that gets caught and exposed doing something wrong there are tons that get away with it.

Is it possible that the case was so open and shut that witnesses wouldn't be needed?

Most people here tell you to plead not guilty whether you're guilty or not, sometimes it's to negotiate a lower charge.

I would think that someone who was involved in the system would know the in's and out's of manipulating it,
and wouldn't need extra help.

This is disturbing, the NRP club definitely looks out for itself, same with any police force..

So it looks like this t!t got a DUI, paid suspension, sure the pension is in tact and nothing really for having hit the motorcyclist... Flip the story to the average Joe, and he loses his job, home and serve jail time..

really sad
