18 - M2 - 1987 250R - Insurance Help

Hey I have a question regarding about insurance. I'm 18 living in Toronto Northyork with a fresh M2 license for about 8 months and I have a 1987 Kawasaki 250r. I also took rider safety course. I heard Dalton Timmis was good but they quoted me for $8560. Is this normal for my age? Should I wait a few years before trying again? Could this be the bike's fault? (I love the style of the older bikes) Thanks :)

I dont think its the bikes fault, how is your driving record... any suspensions... speeding tickets more then 15kmph over? Its worth checking around cause every insurance company is different, the price difference can be HUGE... state farm won't even insure a motorcyclist unless you've had full G/M licence for 4 years or something like that.

Definately get some quotes from a few places before giving up, if you keep getting same or similar rates I think its more likely your age then bike, bike seems like a good choice.

Good Luck.

Speeding tickets from 1-49km/h over are all identical to insurance; they're minor tickets.

OP: Do you have a car? Bundle it. Otherwise, John R Duffy insured me my first year with Facility, and it really wasn't all that bad ($3000/yr). They have an online quote tool too.
