Craft Beer: What are you drinking now??

Samichlaus is too treacly for me. Noticed the prices of some local craft brews getting up there, especially Beaus stuff in the pint bottles. I can get Chimay red in a 730ml bottle for the same price or less everyday and that's a class beer. Quite a few classy Belgians selling for a fair bit less than some Ontario beers too. I'm all for supporting local breweries but I'm sniffing a bit of a hipster tax here.

Stone City need to get their old food menu back too. The food's not as appealing lately although it's still pretty good.

I'm with you on the focus on spendy beers, I'm from the beer is a working mans drink class and have a tough time getting my head around a $12 bottle of beer. But I'm old. And I usually have more than one at a sitting so 8.5-9 ABV is limiting.

The dogfish 120ipa is a beast.
Last time I had it was about a year ago.
Buddies and I drank the 60, 90, and 120 back to back.
It was a good time.

I bet. I like the 60 and the 120... not fussy on the 90, just too much resin for my palate.

Also been drinking stuff from this startup based in Manchester - Cloudwater. A friend of a friend is part owner. They went from zero to world-class in like two years. Their session IPA is godly and I'm not even a fan of IPAs.

These folks were just ranked 5th in the world in Ratebeer's Top 100. #bowdown

Are they brewery availability only, or are they in the lcbo?

Quantum Brewing, Singularity Stout. A friend who used to make his own, moved to San Diego, and bought a brewery there.

Drank the 4x4, and Impact from Stack brewing out of Sudbury.
Both were great.

I had another Westvleteren 12. Amazing. Even though redundant, I want to highlight the great ones (I have a lot of the WV12). https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/313/1545/

I also had a Harviestoun Brewery Old Engine Oil Porter. Beautiful. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/323/875/

Still have a WV12 and Duchesse de Bourgogne in the fridge, but I pulled out some more awesome beer for the fridge.

I'll be lucky to have 3 or so over the weekend, but I love my options. :agave:

Lots to look forward to. Drink well my friends.

Great Lakes Brewery 30th anniversary belgian quad.
11.3% and pretty damn tasty.
Have a second bottle in the fridge that will be aged for the next 2-3yrs.

Stone brewing Xocoveza.

Great Lakes Cornish Breakfast

Great Lakes Harry Porter and the Complicated Coffee Order.

Great Lakes Life Sentence Triple IPA

Enough dancing around, ;) I've decided this afternoon is time for some extra quality beer. After a quick survey, I planned for potentially three beers (need to optimize the order and temperature), and I'm looking forward to it :agave:. I just started with La Chouffe, mentioned earlier... an easy find clean belgian strong pale ale. Next will be Rochefort 10, and last option is Gulden Draak.

Not a big fan of Draak. Just too malty for me. The other two are choice picks IMHO. Cheers. I'm living vicariously here, on my summer diet for a while now.

La Chouffe and Houblon Chouffe are in my top fave lists...

Drank the 4x4, and Impact from Stack brewing out of Sudbury.
Both were great.

Picked up some 4x4 simply due to this thread... I'm pleasantly surprised.
It's a heavy flavoured Belgian Quad... I would say it's on par with Through the Quad from Block 3, just a bit different.
