Question about Coopers Falls 6/20

Hi everyone, a group of us are heading up to Muskoka on Thursday (13 to Bala, Rosseau, back down 24, etc.) but there is one section I have added that I am not sure about along 20 to 6 south through Cooper Falls (see attached image for the roads I am referring to).

I was hoping that someone could confirm with me that it's fine to ride (no gravel roads etc.).

Here is the full map if anyone wants to critique anything else: http://www.plotaroute.com/route/70863

Also, if you want to come, send me a PM. Leaving Beaverton at 10:00. Here is my FB Group to join if you intend to come: https://www.facebook.com/groups/dadsatdawn/

Thank you!

I don't believe any of the roads you have on your route gravel, but watch for sand on the road itself. Southwood/13 is notorious for sand this early in the season. It usually takes till mid-summer to clear up.

Also, when I hit the Cooper Falls section late last season, it was under construction and had gravel patches. I believe it's fixed now. Have a look at the 'North Roads' thread. I believe there are updates there about road conditions for some of the roads in your route.

Thanks Chaos. I have done 13 several times so I hear you on the gravel. We will be careful (older, mellow[er] guys). Best.

Muskoka 6, Simcoe 58? is normally paved.
Simcoe is usually less well maintained, as it was mostly a way to get to Muskoka cottages.

Every couple of years, they repave it though. No idea when that will happen next.

Also, some blind sharp narrow corners, and up and down.

Edit: Sorry, it's Simcoe 52. :D

Ok so 6 seems settled fine/paved.

What about 20 (aka Uffington Rd) just west of Lakewood, south on 118? Anyone know about this road? Thanks. https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Se...1s0x4cd55cbc7f3bb99b:0xf072aab5a94f5f58?hl=en

6 aka Chisholm trail is all gravel, was there on Saturday. I approached from the south side.

I am reading it as Housey's Rapids Road. Where is Chisholm trail?

Houseys Rapids is fine and a nice ride - I was on it 3 weeks ago.

I would suggest changing a few things to the second half of your ride:
Add in a stop at the Windermere dock for a nice photo op and maybe even a swim. It's a great spot for a quick break.
Take Muskoka Beach Rd south to move between Bracebridge and Gravenhurst
After Houseys Rapids, Head west on Coopers Falls Rd, then south on 169 for a short bit then back to your route to avoid the gravel stretch pointed out earlier.
To finish your ride off, take a ride along the Kirkfield Locks Causeway - another great spot for a nice photo or a short break.

I've made all the changes above and it would look like: https://goo.gl/maps/XxO9r

Excellent. That is what I will do then. Greatly appreciated Shane.

Bumping an old thread, Houseys Rapids Road is being resurfaced. no warning about the road condition at the start of Coopers Falls near Washago. It is passable as it is gravel soft and deep ( Tuesday June 27th) but with so many other good roads around it was not worth the time.
