Canada Road Safety Week, Tuesday, May 12, 2015 until Monday, May 18, 2015

“Traffic Safety” continues to be a priority for the Toronto Police Service.

Canada Road Safety Week is a national traffic safety and enforcement initiative conducted in partnership with the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and police services from across Canada. This coordinated effort between policing agencies aims to achieve the goal of making Canada’s roads the safest in the world. This seven day campaign begins on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at 12:01 a.m. and runs until Monday, May 18, 2015, at 11:59 p.m.

The Toronto Police Service will target the “Big 4 Killers” on our roads: Impaired operation by alcohol or drug, failure or improper use of seatbelts, distracted driving and aggressive driving. As part of Canada Road Safety Week the Toronto Police Service will participate in a National Enforcement Day for impaired driving on Saturday, May 16, 2015.

All police and parking enforcement officers will pay particular attention to all traffic laws including: enforcement of impaired operation by alcohol or drugs, pedestrian offences, failure or improper use of seatbelts/child restraints, intersection safety and aggressive driving.

Distracted driving continues to be a problem on our roads which puts other road users at risk. Special attention will be paid to those drivers who continue to display a total disregard for other users of the road by using hand-held communication and entertainment devices while driving.
