I think I goofed at work slightly

when i was working my co-worker used the work laptop to surf porn at his home,he was never spoken too about it,he used to tell us it takes some sick ***** to get him there lol, dont worry about it.

One of the first places I worked had a porn server called Uranus that just the IT folks had access to. It was filled with the most shocking stuff (back then) now its pretty vanilla stuff.

So last night I logged in to work remotely to send a couple of emails to people in the UK so they can see them Today morning when they get in. After I finished, I breathed a sign of relief, and proceeded to boot up some porn, typed in a type of porn I wanted to watch, I was very particular about the type, it was almost fetish territory, not gonna tell you the exact search but think something along the lines off "Red head with bush getting pounded" type of search. Anyways, once the search results came up I clicked on one of the links and just as all the filth starts loading and filling my screen I realize that I forgot to log out of VPN and I was actually doing this from my work PC. I was like.........sheeeeiiit! Closed that sheit down and turned off the computer. I wonder what the IT guy monitoring our network thinks of my tastes in the nasty stuff now.

Since nobody else pointed it out...

There are different types/ways of concatenating network traffic via VPN connections. Some bridge ALL traffic so you are effectively tunneling through their connection, while others only bridge local traffic.

So if for example you access 'google.ca' you would not be going through the VPN, whereas if you access '172.16.1.5' it would be going through the VPN.

It's possible your corporate network only bridges local traffic. So the IT person would not even see you accessing porn (which is likely if you did not encounter any filters, but you do at work)

Does that make sense?

Some corporations bridge all traffic to force endpoints to use their IPS etc, whereas smaller corporations do not want to bridge all traffic.... because it causes a lot of traffic.

They only want the VPN to be utilized for their own network resources.

What Chasem said.

We finally fired a guy after he brought in a virus from a porn site that took out our server, but in fairness it was the third time with the same guy and he had been asked to keep in clean at the office.
Yetti works for you?

i have a USA ip address for work and ive clicked a couple porn links completely by accident, even got the pop up screen saying it violates company policy.
one that comes to mind is i was trying to see if glen eden ski hill was open so googled "glen eden resort", well apparently there is a glen Eden nudist resort in the states, and seeing that i was on a USA ip address it was the first link that popped up and i just clicked it.
a year and a hlf later, i still have my job and have never been talked to about it.
honestly it happened a few times since too, really have to read the links before i click them...

I don't quite understand the setup but we've had trouble with our server so my PC is actually the only computer on the network with a Fixed IP and it's running the server software to resolve everyone else's IPs. For this reason I basically have absolutely ZERO filters from my work PC and I can basically browse ANYTHING. Maybe my internet usage doesn't even get logged.....not sure.

Your system must be on no proxy.....

Is this your roundabout way of saying you like redheads with bush?
