GoPro questions

Don't think I would say cracking down but there have been at least three convictions, (as reported here, could be more), and a precedent set in the Ontario courts. So when I got my new lid, I never bothered mounting the mounts, why draw unneeded attention. If they can't get you on anything else this could be a "fall back" charge.

I've gone past many cruisers and none have ever stopped me. That said, if you do something else to get their attention and pull you over, then they might actually say something. Even still, I think most might be interested in the camera to see what you have been up to more than knowing that particular law.

Technically my Sena also sticks out from the helmet, and none have said anything about that either, even when passing through ride checks. They definitely notice it too, as after I stop I have to turn it down/off if I have music playing.

I recently got the SJCam 4000 Wifi from amazon.ca for CDN $125 + tax delivered. It's basically a knockoff of the GoPro at 1/3rd of the price. Google the reviews and comparisons; the only noticeable improvement the Hero 3 line had was slightly better transition from high to low light situations. The biggest noticeable advantage to the SJCam (other than the price) is the video screen on the back of the unit. All GoPro accessories other than the case and battery are interchangeable with SJCam.

I'm happy with the unit.

Longshot Gopro Continuous power supply

It's a product that let's you hardwire the gopro into your bike so you can shoot all day, and the manufacturer has a agreed to a discount for all GTAM members.

Just FYI, ANY camera with a tripod threaded hole (like that Yi Sports Camera) can be converted to use GoPro mounts super easy. Purchase a GoPro Tripod Adapter and hacksaw off the "ear" that holds the nut. To attach it to the camera by a 1/4" piece of threaded rod (or a 1/4" bolt and hacksaw the head off) and then you can just thread the camera to the mount. With the one ear hacked off it'll fit into ANY gopro mount (suction cup, sticky ones, etc.). That's what I use for every camera on my bike.

Just purchased the GoPro battery eliminator. Should arrive within the next week, (having it shipped to a US address forst then to me). Will provide a write up on it once I use it. This could be a game changer, (with the proper amount of memory), you can record your entire day of riding.

Of course this will mean the camera has to mounted to the bike as opposed to being on the helmet, (which is illegal anyways)
