Indiana's "Religious Freedom Law"... Okay now to discriminate?

Do you realize that you are equating lgbt people to "insane radical muslim/christan or ... who marries his/her daughter at 13 or beats her if she doesnt wear Hijab"?

Would you also uphold business owners' "rights" not to serve/sell to non-whites? Either way, this is simply how people are born, not by "choice".

your plan to let the religious radicals go extinct might work if there weren't so many of them. You'd be creating 2 separate economies.

I see why you would think that. But my point is to let these homophobes come out of the hidind and show their true side, allowing major businesses like Apple to boycott them. A long term solution to the issue.

And yeah, if someone is stupid enough not to serve black people, let them and watch how quickly they will go under as the entire country will boycott them.

So not equating LGBT wiith crazy Muslims/Christians/Jews. But i would like the right not to serve the latter. I would really like the right to say no to a man/woman who forces theirlittle girl to hide her face and not live a normal life or those who beat their children for not praying or having a bf/gf. But thats just me.

As an atheist who thinks this mentality is barbaric and insane, id have to say that as long as they are not actively pursuing homosexuals to hunt them, its not completely insane to give them the right not to sell them a cake.

Its fine to say that when you live in a place like TO were sure one place might not want to make a cake for your gay wedding another place surely will but we are talking about small towns in Indiana and people realistically in some cases may not have that choice even if they is another place to go to they may all feel the same way. Not only that but the law does apply to services far more critical than confections.

In Indiana gender isn't a protected class you people ARE let go from jobs because their boss finds out they are gay.

There is a human rights complaint in Toronto against a muslim barber who refused to cut the hair of a woman: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/...ues-omar-mahrouk-muslim-barber_n_2140277.html

"McGregor is not seeking monetary damages, but wants the tribunal to force the shop to offer men's haircuts to both genders."

His way around this is s simple one.

Mens cuts : $15
Womens cuts: $115

I already go to a Male barber that does this to comply with the human rights law.

Good point.

If your religion says you shouldn't handle alcohol don't get a job in a bar.

If your religion says you shouldn't lie don't go into politics.

Jehovah's Witnesses refuse life saving blood transfusions. I disagree with the theology but respect their adult choices.

businesses open to the public don't have the right to exclude anyone that pays for the item/service ...as long as they are not a disturbance.

So, they don't have to serve her, as she's obviously disturbing them?

So, they don't have to serve her, as she's obviously disturbing them?

I think the legal definition is a bit more specific.

US version:
"Elements of Disturbing the Peace: It shall be unlawful for any person to:

Make, continue, maintain or cause to be made or continued any excessive, unnecessary, unreasonable or unusually loud noise or any noise in such manner as to annoy, offend, disturb, injure or endanger the comfort, repose, health, peace or safety of any reasonable person of normal auditory sensitivity residing in the area.
Use, operate or permit the use or operation of any electronic device, radio receiving set, television, musical instrument, phonograph or other machine or device for the producing or reproducing of sound in such manner as to disturb the peace, quiet and comfort of any reasonable person of normal auditory sensitivity inhabiting the area.
Congregate because of, participate in or be in any party or gathering of people from which sound emanates of a sufficient volume so as to disturb the peace, quiet or repose of any reasonable person of normal auditory sensitivity residing in any residential area. No person shall visit or remain within any residential dwelling unit wherein such party or gathering is taking place except persons who have gone there for the sole purpose of abating said disturbance. A police officer may order all persons present in any group or gathering from the dwelling unit to immediately disperse in lieu of being charged under this Section."

We may think we are above this here but one of the leaders in the current PC party leadership race consitently votes anti-gay rights and anti-women's rights in Parliament, they seem to think this guy is their next best hope for a leader!

If he ever gets in (as Premier) expect this kind of legislation here. Hopefully they see the light before making him leader, if not I hope the voters will...

like the voters saw the Liberals wasting $$$$$ and voted them in again?

It was a game of who was the least worse for many voters. On top of that the PCs directly attacked 23% of the voters in Ontario (that is how many are in a union), that number extends out to 40% when you consider households with union members. In short the PC lost the election, Wynne did not win... voters picked who they thought was least worse, right or wrong.

New guy is against 60% of the voters.... that should work better for them!

+1...

Sadly the "PCs" lost it all on their own. If they had of actually been Progressive Conservatives and not tried to be Mike Harris 2.0 or Neo Cons like the Federal Conservatives then they may have had a chance. If they choose a leader who is right of centre instead of right of right and field progressive candidates and policies then the province should be theirs. If they choose to replay the same plan and direction of last election it will be another 4 years for Wynne.

Leviticus 20:13

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.

So hopefully they do not have any 13 story buildings...

True colours.

No 13 story buildings at all. Plenty of 14 story buildings with a missing floor number though.

Are business people considered mere slaves to these types?

So they have a loophole, we are not like ISIS we do not throw people off of 13 story buildings… 14 stories, well that is different, it is god’s work.

This is the common misconception in canada. harper is actually left of centre. His politics and policy are pretty much inline 100 percent with obamas. The liberals are more socialist than democrat and definetly the PC are more democrat if you compare it to US and or world politics
