Last year I had a State Farm policy for $227 a month - Approximately 2800 a year.

I cancelled in October and they told me I had a balance owing on my policy for a premium that should have been paid through from October to February. This is about $640.

I was surprised about this as I did not receive any letter stating that I had owed this amount.

I went around to different sites and got quotes for $286 a month. About 3500 a year.

Should I pay my premium and go back to State Farm or take the plunge?

I'm sorry, but your post makes no sense.

Most of your premium goes towards the summer months, so if you're paying paying monthly and canceled at the end of the summer then of course you have more to pay or everyone would be cancelling at the end of the summer and saving a ton on their insurance.

Then you ask if you should "take the plunge" and pay more for insurance? Honestly, wtf are you talking about lol? Pay what you owe and obviously go with the cheapest premium.
