Your riding and I don't even want to get out and start up my truck in the morning.
Don't they sell a D e-icer at pretty much all gas stations? Could be ideal to carry.
 
What a waste of vodka :( hot water would've done the same thing...

Well, he could use the boiling water to heat up the key, although that's not practical in a frozen parking lot, or on the street. A butane lighter is probably a good thing to keep in your jacket if you ride during winter. Plus, you can light cigarettes for those hot chicks who admire your manly resolve.
 
Vodka is cheap and plentiful, anyway. Top Gear used a whole tank of it to cool their tires when they drove up a volcano because water would've froze on the way up. Or so they showed on the show, anyway (could've been fake).
 
The cheaper, and more effective alternative to de-icer/vodka would be ISP alcohol from the pharmacy.
More alcohol content to evaporate quicker, and a stronger de-icer.
