Maybe. Traffic comes to a dead stop suddenly on highways in the GTA all the time. Whether it's a stopped car, an animal, or a fridge on the road I don't really see why there should be much difference. If I can find a way around the obstacle I will take it and likely use hazard lights and/or pull over if I can't. If the animal is moving and will clear my lane I would likely just wait a moment with my hazards on. Then again, I encounter someone reversing down the 401 probably at least once every couple of years and so far I've not had much issue avoiding them.

Of course I'm not about to ditch my vehicle without pulling over or putting on hazards and go escort the animal across the road like the duck lady.

So if these riders didn't see a cager in front of them stopped then how would they see the ducks crossing? I would suggest hitting a bunch of ducks is less likely to be fatal, but likley still to cause a crash of the bike.
