1991 ZX7 fuel filters & sidestand wiring.

Morning guys,
I'm in the process of converting my ZX7 to track use I'm renewing all filters etc etc & when I stripped the bike down I noticed there are 2 fuel filters - the OEM filter between the tap & pump & then a secondary filter (non OEM???) between the pump & the carbs - they are highlighted on the picture below.

• Anyone know why the 2nd filter would be fitted?
• Should I keep it & if so how do I know which one or where to buy it from?

Also, in the picture below I have highlighted the sidestand wires - when I remove the sidestand I'm thinking these are the 2 wires I should be connecting together to complete the circuit so the bike will run without the stand fitted - is that correct?

Neither of those filters are oem. The one on the left should fit snug in that rubber strap so it's been replaced by a generic filter. Not that there is anything really wrong with that. A 2nd filter seems unnecessary, I did buy an OEM filter for my 7R many years ago and I remember it not being very expensive (then it will fit in that rubber strap nice like).

Yes, connect those side stand wires together.
