Timmies or Starbucks. It is a matter of status. Who really cares? Pose in motorcycle gear or cycle shorts. Ride the damn thing and enjoy the ride either way. In my younger days I used to race both track and road cycles. Never had a need to pose. My pleasure came from within.

If you ride on asphalt not a good idea to not use equipment. I have leather riding gear that is not the most comfortable, but I also have other equipment that is almost as good safety wise but is much more comfortable. I have textile jackets, denim riding pants with padding and boots with Gore-Tex liner; no reason not to wear.
