Claw of the Dragon

Thanks for the heads up. I will be running it twice in a few days from now. Did you get to ride any other roads that were as awesome? Two that look interesting are this one: http://goo.gl/maps/U8qqu and this one: http://goo.gl/maps/o2gyZ

Some part of 91 seems to be gravel, according to the sign at the north end of the road. Since my tires where close to the end of their life and not off road worthy anymore, I decided to go around ...

Looks like its clearing - good luck but gonna be chilly

It was really chilly ... Headed back home on Saturday.

Did the BRP in the morning, than 250 to Elkins, than it started getting really cold, so i decided to head home in one shot. Had long cold ride for the rest of the day. It took me 3 hours to decide that my current layer arrangement wasn't doing it and put the heated jacket on, and things were better.

And one of my (almost) new Alpinestar goretex boots exploded (had them for 1 month), put some duct tape on top to prevent water to come in :(

I love how you guys put all these route links for me to copy and use at a later time, keep up the great work. Planning my route to West Virginia, just not sure when we'll go yet.

I can't sort this weather either - with the jet stream so far south there is a no win down that corridor.

I left Monticello NY this morning and am now in Roanoke VA. I was going to stay at the Blue Ridge Campground in Brevard for the next 2 nights before coming home the slow route via Kentucky and Ohio, but now not sure if I should just head home:(

Can you stay east? The warm flow is along the coast.

Kentucky etc is a nightmare.

I'd say Vermont is the only reasonable spot and that's not until Thursday - got some good books ?

I feel your pain Shane.
Its rain and lightning here right now and 11c
Next decent day here is Thursday...12c with sun and cloud.

I have the mentality that it is only cold if you are not dressed properly, it keeps me riding.

I don't think cold is the issue - those are very dangerous storms.

I'll ride in most any weather...I would not ride in this
