05' vstar650 drive shaft oil leak?

So I went on a ride to Algonquin park over this weekend and half way there noticed the left side of my rear tire and rim all covered in oil. Took a closer look and the oil getting sprayed all over the back frame and drops on the drive cover. Any ideas what may be the cause? Blown seal? gasket? Bike has 14,000 KMs on it.

Was an oil change done recently? Or any other type of work? I ad a similar incident with my 2010 road star turns out a breather hose had come off the breather and was spitting out bits of oil when the bike got to full power or very hot. the dealer also said it "appeared" the oil was overfilled during the last oil change, which compounded the issue. They drained off some excess oil, (about 100ml), and attached the hose, and all was good from then till today.

Interesting you mention full power, because for a while I had to be up there especially going uphill. I also had an oil change 3 weeks ago but have taken it for other shorter rides since then. I'm taking the bike to a shop tonight and will tske a look at the breather hose. THANKS!
