RIP - sad day

Two people are dead and another has critical injuries following a crash involving a motorcycle in Mississauga, a representative with Peel police has confirmed.
The collision, involving a car and a motorcycle, happened on Burnhamthorpe Road, just west of Tomken Road, at around 8 p.m.
Both victims, a male and a female, were travelling on the motorcycle, police said.
Another patient has been transported to hospital in critical, but stable condition, a representative with Peel Regional Paramedic Services said.
Burnhamthorpe Road is currently closed in both directions as police investigate. The closure is expected to last several hours.

This summer just keeps getting more sad for riders. As a guy who sometimes rides with his girl, this is what scares me the most. RIP.

Two people aboard a motorcycle have died following a crash with a car in Mississauga, Peel police say.

“The victim is the [male] driver of the motorcycle and his female passenger,” Const. Lilly Fitzpatrick said.

The incident occurred on Burnhamthorpe Road East just west of Tomken Road shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

There was no immediate word on whether the driver of the car was hurt. Witness Shane Edwards, who was driving to visit his sister, said he saw paramedics put the male driver in an ambulance and drive away.

Edwards said that the motorcyclist was speeding and had driven on the shoulder and cut into traffic to get ahead.

“They were speeding and they were going significantly fast,” he said.

Police said it was much too early to determine if charges will be laid.

Burnhamthorpe is expected to be closed for several hours between Cawthra Road and Tomken while police investigate.
 
RIP Rider & the passenger. :( Condolences go out to their family... having ridden with with two of the other "fallen" riders (Matt, and a friend who went down at lansdowne & dupont a few weeks back), this really f@#$%ing sucks and trips me out. :(

Mississauga motorcycle victims identified

Friends have identified a Toronto man and a woman who died Thursday night while riding a motorcycle in Mississauga.

Mike Henry-Wright, 24, of Toronto and his friend Cassandra Tanovich, 22, died after colliding with a car being driven by a 77-year-old Mississauga man, who suffered minor injuries.

Wright died at the scene while Tanovich was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.

Peel Regional Police said the accident happened around 8 p.m. on Burnhamthorpe Rd., west of Tomken Rd., according to police spokeswoman Const. Lilly Fitzpatrick.

Peel Regional Police are asking anyone with information to contact the force's Major Collision Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 3710.
