Statute of limitation?

Is there a time limit on going after damages done to one's property. I know we don't have USA limits.

Let's say a neighbour had a new fence installed four or five years ago and it turns out that when the fencing contractor dug the holes he damaged your lawn sprinkler system. You didn't notice the damage because you were not using the sprinklers but now that our landscaping is done you want it operational.

Is the your neighbour still responsible for the damages. He may not even recall who he had dig the holes. The smoking gun is there.

The problem isn't a sprinkler system but this is a simpler example due to the presence of micro managers egos etc.

just an opinion, but 4 or 5 years sounds too long..
unless you had some kind of arangement with the dude for future problems....

I believe it may be 2 years for civil. For criminal i believe it's indefinite

2 years after date of discovery

In this case, if you just found out neighbor can be held liable even if it has been more than 2 years since he installed fence
