I am currently looking at the C50 Suzuki Boulevard and Yamaha V Star Classic 1100.

What one would be a better choice to go with for the long term as I am moving from a Suzuki Burgman 400 scooter to a motorcycle.

The age of bikes that I am looking at are from 2003-2008
 
Im going tomorrow to check out out the Yamaha v star at snow city

I have a buddy who rides one and he absolutely loves it

There's a recent thread on the C50. You are the only one who can make the decision. Get to a demo ride and try them both.
Both bikes have dedicated forums, read what owners have to say about them.
 
Never been a Suzuki fan. I had a Vstar 1100 Custom for 12 years put 131,000 kilometers on it over the 12 years. Was still in good shape and ran like the day I purchased it when I sold it. Mechanically they're bullet proof. To this day still can't figure out why Yamaha retired such a great model.
