Curry - so nice it burns you twice

I know the usual roads are the 33, 250 and many more, but as I'm planning my next trip I'm wondering if anyone has been on the forest roads out there? Sometimes they are paved, sometimes not - I have no idea. These seem pretty remote, but must be really nice.

Some serious twisty business: http://goo.gl/maps/gAJWc and: http://goo.gl/maps/jz6bl and: http://goo.gl/maps/JUJph

makes for a fun route: http://goo.gl/maps/EeV8t and would be perfect for a long weekend. When I was down in the Smokey's last, some of the best roads I was on were the ones that were the forest roads.

Gah! I think I need to mount some Heidenaus for the next solo run. Bypassing all those lovely little gravel roads bugs me and makes me long for my KLR.

'cept when you want to super slab it. :(
KLR is so versatile but then when you want to get somewhere quick....poor thing throws knobbies everywhere.
Wanna split a KLR and park it in PA? :D

Lol. I had 88,000 on mine before buying the DR650E, but it can't two up worth a darn, and superslab was killing my butt.

The Versys is a nice compromise, but gave up too much in the off road and inexpensive parts theatre.

I'm on a 650Strom and with mostly street tires, so I just take it slow on the non-paved stuff. I had a KLR and sold it because it was too gutless on the slab, especially 2up. I also posted this on another forum and found out that some of the roads I listed are actually paved!

because it was too gutless on the slab,
understatement.....
But it's a tractor on dodgy off road and I'd much rather pick it up than a Weestrom. :D

Deer are out at all hours too - used to be dusk and dawn but seems to have changed or there are more to see ( and more there unseen )

I agree about the wildlife - up near the top of Hyner State Park a few weekends ago, I saw both deer and bear cross my path. I like to see the wildlife when I'm out and even ride early morning to catch a glimpse, but I am always worried about hitting a deer when moving at speed. It's another reason I'm starting to like the twisty forest roads more and more - speeds are usually half what I would do on paved roads.

I'm getting more cautious in my dottage, and have cut my speed back on blind hills corners and have a lovely bit of deer fear at dawn and dusk, having hit one several years ago.

I agree, picking up the Wee-Strom or the Versys teaches you caution.
