Alternative to teksavvy?

Just moved and kept teksavvy cable, but it's seems slow. Probably everyone is on cable and downloading porn.

I was on their website just now and noticed they made 150gb limits now. Seems very douchebaggy.

Any good companies out there that are unlimited and reasonable price? I need consistent fast speeds. Any ideas?
 
150GB cap? Wonder if that affects me. I never pay attention to that crap. Never received an overage charge but I don't download as much as I used to.

My cable is occasionally slow but I always blamed it on Rogers rather than Tek Savvy. It's usually a problem with the local cable infrastructure.
 
My teksavvy cap is at 300gb. Be mindful of two things: uploads don't count, and anything transferred between 2am and 8am also doesn't count towards the cap.

Policy changed a few months back, they sent emails out to everyone. ALL traffic now counts against your cap. You can also 'lower' your overall speed to 9 Mbps, and your cap is fully removed.

On the TekSavvy website, there's a section called MyAccount or MyWorld. Login with your CID (if you didn't register a username beforehand) and it tells you all the stats and what not. You can also make changes to your account, etc.
 
I logged in and couldn't figure out how to see any usage or even what plan I'm on or how to change it. Not that I tried for long.

Not sure on cable but for DSL that speed lowering only applies between 8pm-midnight.

Uploads don't count. 2am to 8am doesn't count.

From their own site:

Unlimited Usage between 2am and 8am

For our cable customers we are offering unlimited usage between 2am and 8am. This allows our customers to download large items free of charge during this time period. Items downloaded during this time do not count toward your Bandwidth limit.

If you're capped at 150gb,I think that's a good indication to go outside

What does your data cap have to do with a need to go outside?

Yep. That was my problem. Lame. Now I gotta sign up again and I just had to sign up for the other one. It SEEMED like I was in the correct spot but nothing was working properly.
 
I download the fk out of all kinds of internets. Never went over 150gb. Then again, I throttle my torrents until 2am, then uncap for 6 hours.

I'm at 80GB this month and I haven't even done any torrents this month. When I did a lot of torrenting years ago I'd hit over 200GB in a day.

In college our class got in **** because we figured out newgroups weren't blocked by the school firewall and did over a terabyte over night.
