Take the sprocket carrier out of the wheel, poke the rubber bits between the carrier and wheel to see how hard they are.
If they are soft enough, you may be able to see the sprocket twist wrt the wheel when you twist the sprocket. No idea on how soft is required, but assuming the soft inserts don't plastically deform, I suspect softer would be better.
