Boots

What is fascinating to me is how many Canadian people have this problem (not us, the immigrants).

In other words, why do some Canadians, boys and girls alike, have this particular physical characteristic? Is this an anthropological question? Is there a biological reason? Is it caused by canoeing and hiking? 'Cause I have skinny calves and I have never been in a canoe, so maybe that's it. Or maybe related to the consumption of maple syrup and timbits?

I used to have an American girlfriend, and she used to say "When I gain weight, it goes to my thighs". My Canadian girlfriend says it goes to her calves. Why? What’s going on? Is there a geneticist on the board that could explain?

Thank you.

Now, let me add something because I used the wrong word: I said that Canadian people have this "problem". It is not a problem, it is just a physical characteristic and it looks great specially in some girls. I mean, hell, I wish I had that "problem". That being said, could someone explain why? Is it a Canadian gene? Is it related to te environment? What?

It's called muscle. You get it when you exercise - you know - running, swimming, cycling etc. I was a comp swimmer, diver and I run marathons- Training for these sports makes muscle. Just sayin'! ;)

Nah.

I don't have skinny calves and I don't work them out. I was not born here. Quite the generalization lawl

Im an immigrant but have this problem. Maybe its cause i spent more time in canada and got infected with this gene? I dunno...whats your take on this

I think we are talking about different things. I have spent countless hours in the gym, training in Toronto, Montréal and Vancouver, with the best (and most expensive) personal trainers in Canada. After years of specifically targeting my calves, they are skinnier than ever.

When I mentioned it to my doctor, she was concerned because she could not explain why approx. 36 months of training have not produced any results. She referred me to a specialist, a musculoskeletal doctor at Mount Sinai hospital in Toronto.

The specialist examined me trying to determine the reason for muscle imbalances between my thin calves and the rest of my body, which is chiseled, basically sculpted as a greek god.

I remember pleading with the specialist "All I ever wanted was to fill my Alpinstars boots!" He was moved by my tears and called another doctor for a second opinion, Dr. Ho of the famous Dr. Ho’s Muscle Therapy System. At the end, Dr. Ho diagnosed me with “Skinny Leg Syndrome”, a condition that affects many men, and consists of skinny legs and a flat @$$.

You got it... I am sure Skinny Leg Syndrome is not contagious, but the Canadian gene is... also, probably you have consumed too much Canadian food over your life time...
