Plan on heading to Spain in september, anyone have recommendations, where to go, what to see. Most importantly where to rent a bike and possibly do some riding.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

When I was in Barcelona I found a guy online who does Spanish Civil War walking tours, which was definitely the highlight of my stay there. If you're in to that at all I highly recommend it. Google Nick Lloyd and you should have no trouble finding it.
Seville looks like walking into a postcard. From there it's an easy trip to Lisbon, and if you're really touring, Porto.

Otherwise when I was walking the Camino I saw a lot of bikes on some incredible looking twisties.

Hi I lived in Spain on several occasions and you will not go wrong with riding anywhere. The south has is`s charms, if in Barcelona DO NOT MISS a trip up the TIBIDABO hill-amazing views of BCN. Go to http://www.bestbikingroads.com/ for all the routs there. I am jealous of you but happy somebody will experience Spain on a bike. I hope you can do a trip report. HAVE FUN

There are a couple of good ride reports in here if you search a bit. I was stuck in a rental car at the time, but the roads south of the Sierra Nevada mountain range were incredible. We picked that route more or less at random, but I don't think you can go wrong with any route. Zoom in on any of the squiggly bits in Google maps and drop into street view to see what I mean.

Me too! I'm not sure of the exact route (via Edelweiss Tours) but the picture they have of this mountain pass looks promising!
Tour goes through the Pyrenees, through Andorra and into France.

strongly consider going to San Sebastien, on the north coast and stay in the old part (north part) of the city if you can. Very beautifl. The bars/tapas at night are a lot of fun. You can also get some surfing lessons there for a few bucks.

If your going to hostel it, be aware English may not be very prevelant and the price of things depend on how rich you look. If you go to Barcelona watch out for theft.

Barcelona is brilliant city and two wheel oriented but not really a riding destination.

Anywhere in the pyrenees is a hoot....hit Andorra - flip back and forth between Spain and France....hell that's where they run the Tour de France and there are speed limits for BICYCLES!!!

Wicked stuff....wish I'd had a mcycle there.

We rented from IMT. They have about 8 offices in major cities in Spain. I have nothing but good tings to say about the bike, its condition and the rental experience.

PM me if you want more info.

From the south of Spain (Gibralter) you can take a 2 hour ferry ride and be in Africa for the day. The Squeeze and I did this when we back packed Europe in '88.

Sorry can't help with a bike rental.
