So maybe we can start an insurance discussion on future bikes; electric!

How will insurance be rating these bikes since their motors don't go by CC's, but rather kw's.

I've heard some claims from Zero owners that they are paying very little insurance

I know TD quoted me $3000 for a 2014 Zero S

There wont be enough data at this time so i would expect it to be higher for the short term until data on safety and usage can be collected. Either that point it will go up or down depending on the stats

Two50noob is correct at this time there isn't much data to get a sense in what insurance cost can be.
At this time we (brokers) are still sending all the info to the insurance companies and waiting a couple of days for an answer on what the cost to insure such bikes is.

The actuaries are going to the British system of power and weight Electric should be similar to 500s.
