Opp motorcycle cop down.

Latest ive heard (according to ornge air) is hes been rushed to Sunnybrook. Although the opp will not release the hospital.

It sounds serious but lets hope its just media blowing it out of proportion.

Thoughts with the rider, family and friends.

Yes. Not funny.

+1..

With all due respect everyone. Lets keep this thread about a fallen rider involved in an accident. Cop or not it doesnt matter. This person may loose his life because of a goose. It can happen to any of us.

He was involved in training. Not pulling speeders over.

My thoughts are with his family. It doesn't sound good. Sunnybrook is one of the best trauma centers. Hopefully he pulls though.

I may disagree with alot of the crap that some sport bike riders due. But I would never poke fun in a fallen rider thread for someone who died or got injured pulling a wheelie.

An officer who was injured after his motorcycle struck a goose during a training exercise north of Barrie on Thursday morning has been identified as an experienced member of the highway safety division.
Const. Pete Tucker was taking part in an escort training exercise with about 14 other police officers riding motorcycles on Highway 11 southbound at Highway 400.
The officer, believed to be in his mid-40's and a 20-year veteran of the force, lost control of his bike after he was hit by a flying goose.

OPP crash on Highway 11
A police motorcycle lies on its side (right) next to a second, parked motorcycle on Highway 11 near Barrie, Ont. on June 26, 2014.
"In the 30 years that I've been policing I've never seen where one of our officers was hit by a bird flying in the air," OPP Commissioner Vince Hawkes told CTV on Thursday afternoon.
The officer's injuries have been described as serious and "life altering."
An ambulance brought the officer to RVH in Barrie, before he was transferred via an Ornge air ambulance to Toronto's Sunnybrook Hospital.
Tucker is stable after undergoing treatment at Sunnybrook, police said. Because he was wearing a vest, jacket and helmet, most of his injuries are to his legs.
"There's going to be a long road for recovery for this officer and his family and everyone involved," Hawkes said.
Parts of both Highway 11 and Highway 400 had been shut down after the collision, but they opened shortly after 1 p.m.
Hawkes says Tucker is a very experienced rider from the Niagara detachment but was visiting OPP headquarters in Orillia for the training session.
Tucker performs normal patrol duties, but is also part of the OPP Golden Helmet Motorcycle Precision Team, meaning he is qualified to take part in promotional activities and escorts of celebrities and high-profile guests of the province.
News of the crash reached Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne while she was speaking at a news conference.
"I just want to say my thoughts are with the officer and I hope that the officer is able to recover completely.

Pete is a friend, and as mentioned, a Golden Helmet rider.
I did that escort training in 2010 and am well aware of the type of riding that is required. It sounds like a freak accident that could have affected any one of us, from any police service that runs escorts.

My thanks to those who have commented sympathetically, and also to those who removed the less tasteful comments from earlier today. Ride safe all.

OPP officer’s family rushed to Sunnybrook hospital

06/27/2014 06:09 PM Showwei Chu
There is grave concern about the condition of an OPP officer, who was badly injured by a bird during a freak motorcycle accident on Thursday, after relatives were rushed to Sunnybrook hospital on Friday.

There was no official word on Const. Pete Tucker’s condition after he was struck by a flying goose while driving his motorcycle during a training exercise in Barrie on Thursday morning.

But CityNews has learned his family was accompanied to the hospital early Friday evening by a motorcade of police vehicles.

The veteran OPP officer was part of a motorcade training exercise that involved 14 motorcycles and other vehicles at the time of the crash on Highway 400 near Highway 11.

The collision caused him to lose control of his motorcycle and veer across several lanes into a ditch. Tucker suffered serious leg injuries and was airlifted to Sunnybrook hospital in Toronto.

He is a married father in his 40s.

EDIT:
From cp24.com
An Ontario Provincial Police officer injured in a motorcycle crash near Barrie Thursday has undergone a partial leg amputation and will require facial reconstruction, according to an OPP source.

Const. Pete Tucker was participating in a training exercise along Highway 11 Thursday morning when he was struck by a goose and crashed his motorcycle near Highway 400.

Speaking with CP24 late Friday afternoon, a police source confirmed that Tucker underwent surgery earlier today at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre to partially amputate one of his legs.
