From what I have read Ken, you have given a lot to the racing community and Im not trying to take away from that, but IMO I don't think your entitled to rant about another track day provider when you don't offer the same services...i.e. the lack of novice and maybe even intermediate level rider spots at your events. I will certainly enjoy my not so safe track days at TMP this season since it will be much more enjoyable then standing on the side lines at one of your track day events. And, yes, I get your financial reasons but I'm surprised you rant about another tracks financial decisions...rant over.
Well, I tried to stay out of this but,,, this is nuts! This comment is why you need protection at TMP ".e. the lack of novice and maybe even intermediate level rider spots "
I'm pretty sure that bump at the apex of the last corner is still there and bigger. I'm pretty sure that the cement is still pretty hard. Novice,Intermediate,Expert,,100KPH is 100KPH. Novice riders have more accidents at the entry to apex then any other group.
So to accept a track day provider that neglects past safety is like going to a shooting range with no rules.
Ken is not just making stuff up. When I helped him do the haybales there,, we put 8 bales in a bag and then we put those bags 2 feet from the wall.
There was some actual thought to "your" safety.
Yes I get the fact that there are new people. But new people have not seen things like Ken or I have,,,as others. When you are at the track and see 6 air lifts and 3 deaths in one day,Pocono,, you really take a step back. When you have to put a paramedic up against the ambulance, Sanair,,, and threaten him to drive your buddy to the hospital,,you take another step back.
When you see a track day provider or track completely ignore what has been learned over the last 20 years,, you get P#@#@#...
FACT,, some one will have to get serioulsy hurt for TMP and you new people to get Ken's point.
Once you accept 0 safety as the norm,,,that's just a bad day.
After 35 years I have seen some really bad stuff and I don't want you or anybody else to be another bad memory.
Take some time learn some facts and as Brian P says,, step up and ask questions. If they are a track day provider then they can "man" up and
consider your life. What's it going to cost for a few bales,,really,,, don't think track day riders are any safer then racers,again,,100KPH for a trackday rider is a 100KPH for a racer.
Safety starts in your own pit! Take an interest and make a difference!
