Help! Gas tank won't open!

So my 2009 kawi is having some issues. Everything else is good but my key won't turn in the lock which is pretty inconvenient since i am almost at empty. Yikes, newbie problems.

I've read that I should try putting lube into the lock mechanism. It seems that people use WD-40 or machine oil or graphite stuff?

Just wondering if there is something I should use over the other. And lastly if it doesn't work does that mean I have to replace my lock?

Looking forward to any advise!

I use WD-40 for my house door lock, my car doors, everything. It works like a charm.

Try it out, its probably the easiest to apply... you don't need a lot.
 
Are you pushing down on the lock before turning?
Spray anti-seize & let it sit overnight
