Keep at it bud! Could use some stabilization either on Ps or a gymbal. I've been looking for afforadble copters to do the same thing. I've also started watching instructionals on videography to get a good idea of how to maximize a shot. I suggest you do the same thing. Anything helps to improve skills =)

I'd love to try and get some aerial shots of me riding and, if we become buds, perhaps you could show me how to fly one! XD

look up Mercalli 3.0

It's a stand alone software to stabilize your shots.

Yes, A gymbal would be a big help for the shots you are trying to get. One of my riding buddies has been mastering his skills over the winter, hes getting pretty good. Could have bought a bike for what he has into the setup tho.
