Today i got my first 3D Helicopter

Does anyone have any experience in 3d flying ?

For those that dont know 3D, its extreme flying.

i dont think im going to attempt anything insane to start, but it would be cool if there were others on here that fly as well.

I mess around with the Blade Helis both beginner and intermediate levels but primarily spend my time and money with the On-road 1:10 and Rock Crawler stuff.

I picked up the RealFlight 7 R/C sim a few months back. I decided to get some flying experience using that before I step up to a "real" heli. When I was a kid, I flew a biplane a bit, but I've never flown a heli. The sim has been a great experience, but it just isn't the same as the actual thing. At least it's helping me learn and figure out what kind of heli I want.

Which one did you get?

I have flown helis for more than 15 years, built more than 100 higher end machines... My handle on RC forums is Heli3Dflyr. Right now I fly mostly Align DFC flybarless helis and I am working on a Octocopter. Any specific questions feel free to ask

I bought a Blade SR120 a couple years ago. Turns out it's really hard to fly. It's in it's box somewhere now, but I don't know exactly where.

Same. It's a steep learning curve and after smashing it on the ground dozens of times trying to get it to do anything remotely cool, it's now collecting dust somewhere.

I started out with the Propel Speedstar, and can fly that pretty easily.. its quite a leap from flying 3 channel to 4

but now i have a 6 channel, and like a fool i already wiped it out testing it... at least spare parts are cheap...lol

Seen your handle in the heli forums. Ive got the same username on rccanada and runryder. Haven't posted in either in a while. Been flying helis for many years but took a break from them the last year or so. Was burning almost $50 a weekend on my 90's in nitro lol. Just got into large scale gasser planes last summer and had a blast with it. Nice change of pace from 3D flying. I may get my 90's airworthy again for the upcoming season but who knows. Haha.

I used to be into R/C Racing about 20 years ago while growing up in Montreal.
All my toys were battery powered, no gas. All cars and trucks.

My #1 R/C Car was my Team Associated Rc10

#2 Would have been my Kyosho Ultima

#3 Tamiya R/C entry level cars and trucks.
(I had the Grasshopper, the Hornet and the Blackfoot truck)

In Montreal, (The West Island *mostly English*) @ the Pointe Claire shopping centre, the Hobby store in the mall sponsored multiple R/C races per year at a substantially large outdoor R/C track located in an isolated area of the mall's parking Lot. The Team Associated RC10 was a Handme down from a childhood friend. With that car, I won the Ultima and the Tamiya Hornet. :>

You never see these type of events here in Toronto, sadly.

I grew up in Montreal in the 70's/80's. A whole other world it seems compared to Toronto, today.

If I had the financial resources, I would personally look to open a RC indoor/outdoor racing facility. @ a location like Downsview park perhaps.

One day. :>
